Technology is supposed to make our lives easier- or at least that is what we have always been told. Though may times it may seem like the opposite is true- that technology actually makes things more complicated and a whole lot harder (just remember the last time your computer froze or your car broke down!), there are definitely areas where technology is living up to its promise of providing solutions to problems.
One of these areas is in the field of telecommunications. As new telecommunications services sprouted up over the years, it suddenly became necessary to have a provider for each of your services- TV, telephone, and later Internet. This was never a huge problem, but having to deal with three separate companies to get basic home telecommunications definitely had its disadvantages. After all, who wants to get three times as many bills, spend three times as much time setting up the services, and spend three times the time managing the services over the years. This is where Comcast's brilliant idea of bundling services under one plan came in.
Comcast's bundled services were an idea whose time had come when they were first introduced. After all, most people were ready to simplify their lives and cutting down the number of telecommunications companies they dealt with was an easy way. Plus, the technologies to allow bundled services were just coming into existence, making it finally possible to provide all three important services- telephone, Internet, and TV- through cable lines.
Adding Internet to the cable TV services was the first step because they could both easily be delivered through the same cable lines that were already providing cable TV service. As digital voice technologies improved, adding digital telephone service to the mix became the final part of the bundling service. Of course, to allow all three services to be delivered to customers in the high quality expected and to allow room for future improvements and technological advances, Comcast started replacing older cable lines with advanced fiber optic lines. This greatly improved all aspects of the service and eliminated bandwidth limitations that were interfering with providing service.
The results of providing the technologies and the means for customers to get all three telecommunications services though Comcast have been overwhelming. Now, the majority of customers choose to get at least two of the company's services, with most opting for all three. The customer gets the benefit of easier management of services, combined with better pricing, making it a very attractive option. Also the infrastructure improvements that have allowed the bundled services to be available have also provided the technology necessary for improved HD access, On Demand access, faster Internet, and other improvements. This has improved the quality of every service, making them even more desirable.
Since Comcast started offering bundled services, there has been a change in the telecommunications market towards offering combined services. This has led to better access and easier access to home telecommunications service for all people- just one way in which an innovative company can really increase the worth of its services for its customers. Computers have always been an evolving item. From the huge room-filling computers of the early days to the tiny cell-phone based computers of today, there has never been a year without at least some improvement and change in the form of the computer. With the advent of the Internet, the pace of the change has seemed to quicken and now, not only are computers evolving quickly, but so is the infrastructure that provides Internet access.
It has just been in the past few years that high speed Internet really took off and dial up became mostly extinct and now, even the fastest high speed Internet of a few years ago would seem terribly slow. Of course, what we use computers for has also changed and they have become a large component of our entertainment and our communication with others. Whether or not the high pace of change continues for the forseeable future is unknown, but you can expect that, thanks to the necessity of computers in our modern lives, that, at least for a while, we will continue to see improvements in Internet service providers.
Because the computer is such a necessity to us and provides us with everything from work opportunities to entertainment, it is important to have an Internet service provider that allows you enough speed and bandwidth to accomplish whatever you want to online. For many companies, this is just not possible as the infrastructure is not available to provide the massive bandwidth needed today. Comcast, however, has been one company that has really been able to change with the times and continue to provide the customer with an excellent service.
Its broadband Internet service has undergone changes over time that have allowed it to continuously improve its speed, reliability, and usefulness to the customer. Over the past few years, Comcast has undergone the necessary step of replacing older cable lines with state of the art fiber optic cables that have made it possible for the company to provide more bandwidth for both its high speed Internet and cable TV services. This combined with innovative ideas like PowerBoost, which is able to provide extra bandwidth and speed during the actual process of a large download, has made it possible for Comcast to provide a more robust Internet service than most.
Considering that the average person spends much of their time online watching video (such as YouTube or Hulu), downloading full length movies, sharing pictures, or playing games, it is easy to see why having a fast Internet connection like that Comcast offers is so important. Even normal web surfing necessitates a faster connection speed than it used to because most websites are photo and animation intense and can take forever to download without a fast connection. There is also the increasing trend of taking classes online and getting at least a portion of work done from home, making it even more necessary to have a good Internet connection that is capable of providing plenty of speed.
Comcast's broadband Internet services are one of the fastest available to residential customers and have proven to be a popular selling point for the company. Considering the needs of the average computer user, this will likely continue to be true in the near future.
