Gadgets can be broadly defined as any kind of device that serves some kind of function and has a certain kind of appeal because of the uniqueness of the gadget itself or the thing that it does. Gadgets are also generally small and electronic in nature. Therefore, a desktop computer probably couldn't be considered a gadget because of its size and the fact that it's probably not particularly unique among other devices that do the same thing. On the other hand, Apple's iPhone could be considered a gadget because of its small size and the fact that there aren't that many other devices that function like it.

Families these days have 3 main telecommunications needs. These include television service, high speed Internet access, and phone service. Getting all of these services used to require families to subsribe to three different companies and separately manage each service and pay 3 different fees each month. Because each service came through a different company, it was also impossible to save money by combining services under one company. However, times are different. Now Comcast Internet Service offers families the chance to both reduce the amount of time they spend paying bills and managing their services and the amount of money they pay meeting their telecommunications needs. Comcast is the nation's leader in packaging services and is proving to customers that getting all services from one company just makes sense.

One of the most fascinating aspects of computer technology is that computers can come in so many different shapes and configurations. Sometimes these shapes a just a matter of style- like with some of the desktop computers made by Apple over the past decade. For example, the G4 cube didn't really need to be in the shape of a cube, but it seems that with Apple, style is often king. The later version of Apple's line of desktop super computers- a tower model with four different handles on the corners- was slightly more practical as was the old Macintosh with a screen built into the rest of the computer. The old Commodore 64 computers that many of us grew up with had the interesting design with the circuitry and memory built into the keyboard.

One of the most interesting types of gadgets that can add to the functionality of your computer these days is a TV tuner. TV tuners have been available for computers for quite some time, but with improved graphics, larger hard drives, and better software for managing video; watching TV on a computer makes more sense than ever.

In many ways computing is getting more and more mobile. This really shouldn't be too surprising when you look at the fact that computer manufacturers are able to pack more and more computing power and storage capacity into smaller devices. Advancements in battery technology are also making mobile computing increasingly attractive.

One of the most interesting things that has come out of the consumer computer industry is the idea of multi core processing. With multi core processing, essentially more than one complete computer processor is included on a single chip. This allows the computer to more effectively run computer applications in parallel, thereby increasing the efficiency of the work being done by the computer.

Ever since the first clocks were made and people began to schedule their lives to the point where they had to be a specific places at specific times, waking up on time has been important. After all, the old trick of drinking plenty of water before going to sleep in order to get up early doesn't work very well for the structured kinds of lives we live these days. Such a tactic will prevent one from sleeping in, but it's also likely to disrupt one's sleep without prompting waking at a specific time. This has prompted the invention of the alarm clock.
